What is Western Medical Acupuncture?

An adaptation of Chinese Acupuncture

Western Medical Acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles. It is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.

The benefits of acupuncture include pain relief, facilitation of the healing process, reduction of muscle spasm and tension, promotion of general wellbeing, general relaxation and improved sleep.

Complete Health Clinic Acupuncture

At Complete Health Clinic this is carried out by our Physiotherapist, Gemma. You will have a thorough assessment prior to treatment commencing to ensure acupuncture is safe and appropriate for you.

Acupuncture usually has an accumulative effect (it builds up over time), therefore it is advised to book a minimum of 3 sessions, 1 week apart initially.

Acupuncture can be carried out as an individual treatment, however it is advisable to combine it with Gemma’s exercises, guidance and advice.
