Both Chiropractors and Physiotherapists are highly trained in the assessment, treatment and management of various neuromusculoskeletal complaints and disorders, although their treatment methods vary in techniques used. While the actual treatment may vary, both Chiropractors and Physiotherapists who work at Complete Health Clinic hold the patient’s interests as a priority and will often refer patients to one another in order to give the best possible chance of recovery.
Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on subluxations (misalignments of the vertebrae causing nerve pinching).
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps people to identify and optimise their ability to function. Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. They help to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.
Chiropractors are qualified to a very high standard and take every possible risk into account when considering your case for treatment. Chiropractic adjustments are very safe when delivered by a qualified practitioner.
Our Chiropractors graduated from accredited institutions and are fully registered with the General Chiropractic Council – the regulatory body for Chiropractors.
Although certain massage techniques may be used if clinically warranted, physiotherapy is much more. It includes manual therapy to move your joints, soft tissue release to stretch out tight and therefore dysfunctional muscles as well as re-educating your body to move in the most effective way possible through various exercises.
This is completely dependent on your condition, whether it is a short term or a long term problem that you’ve been suffering with and how you respond to treatment. Your practitioner will go through all your options before you begin treatment to give you the best chance of recovery possible.
Ultimately though, none of the practitioners at Complete Health Clinic will make you feel pressured to take up any treatment that you don’t want to.
Every treatment plan is tailored to the specific individual. It may be, in some cases, some Chiropractic adjustments or Physiotherapy treatment and soft tissue work may cause some temporary discomfort but this is a ‘positive pain’ as it helping to alleviate the pain arising from the route cause. The relief from pain following these procedures by far outweighs the potential initial discomfort!
