For a more detailed explanation of what to expect, please read below.
Gemma will listen to your story, and complete a detailed assessment, including a full history of the reason you first made contact with the clinic (also known as your presenting complaint), past medical history, current medication, hobbies, concerns, expectations and special questions specific to your presenting complaint, as well as current health status and exercise levels.Â
You will then be taken through a physical examination appropriate to your age, abilities and presenting complaint. Posture, range of movement, strength, flexibility, function, balance and special tests will be performed as appropriate. Gemma will always fully explain what is going to happen and would only take you through tests you are happy with. This will enable Gemma to formulate a working diagnosis/ analysis of the current condition. Gemma will then explain her findings, discuss with you how she can help and create a bespoke treatment plan in agreement with you. Any questions will be answered.Â
The emphasis is on shared goals and decision making, between you and Gemma. Obviously, Gemma would refer you on to other health care professionals if she felt this was more appropriate, including our own Chiropractors, Chris or Charley. At the end of this initial appointment, once the treatment plan has been discussed, Gemma and the reception team will help arrange appropriate follow on sessions where your bespoke treatment plan will be delivered.
